SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said before their game against the Jazz that they are where his team was three or four years ago.

Steve Kerr led the Warriors to back-to-back NBA titles in 2017 and 2018, and now thinks the Jazz are where they were back then. Kerr spoke to the local reporters who cover the Warriors before their game against the Jazz on Saturday night. When asked about the Jazz, Kerr gave Quin Snyder’s team praise.

“They’re where we were three or four years ago,” Kerr said.

Golden State won the NBA Championship three times in a four-year span. They went 67-15 in the 2014-15 season and beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games. Then they won the most regular season games in NBA history with a 73-9 record, beating the Chicago Bulls’ previous record of 72 wins. The Warriors lost to LeBron James and the Cavaliers in seven games after a 3-1 series lead.

During the 2016-17 season, Golden State went 67-15 and won their second NBA crown with a 4-1 series win over the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. The following year, Kerr’s team went 58-24 during the regular season before sweeping the Cavaliers in the Finals.

In 2019, the Warriors once again reached the NBA Finals with a 57-25 regular season. They lost to Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors in six games in the NBA Finals.

It’s a massive compliment from Steve Kerr to say that the Jazz are where they were three or four years ago. During that time, Golden State was dominating the league. In their five straight trips to the Finals, the Warriors had a 322-88 record in the regular season and a 77-28 record in the playoffs with three championships.

Currently, the Jazz are the hottest team in the NBA with a 12-4 record and an 8-game winning streak. They are in third place in the West with the same amount of losses as the Lakers and Clippers but the LA teams each have 13 wins.

Utah won their 8th straight game when they beat Steve Kerr’s Warriors 127-108. Donovan Mitchell had 23 points to lead the Jazz. They will play three more home games before going on the road. First up will be the New York Knicks on Tuesday, January 26 at 7 p.m. MST on AT&T SportsNet.
