Jazz Begin Blowout With 30-Point Halftime Lead Over Warriors

Fans had an idea it was going to be a great night for the Jazz when they started the game on a 14-0 run. Mike Conley and Royce O’Neale each knocked down two three-pointers.

Stephen Curry kept the Warriors in the game in the first quarter with 10 points as the Jazz outscored them 39-30. The second quarter was when the game turned for the Jazz as they outscored them 38-17. They took a 77-47 lead into the halftime break.

Despite scoring 77 points, the Jazz had just two players score in double figures. Other than Mitchell’s 18 points, Mike Conley added 15 points, all coming from beyond the arc.

Rudy Gobert, Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale each scored 9 points apiece for Utah. Derrick Favors chipped in 8 points and 5 boards, while Jordan Clarkson dropped 7 points off the bench. Georges Niang rounded out the Jazz scoring with two points.

For Golden State, Curry had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, while knocking down 3 triples. He is tied with Reggie Miller for second in NBA history for most three-pointers made in a career.

Andrew Wiggins has 11 points, while James Wiseman chipped in 7 points and 2 blocks.

Utah Cruises In Second Half To Put Golden State Away

Utah kept the pedal to the metal in the third quarter as they were not allowing the Warriors to make any significant runs. They outscored the Warriors 31-25 in the third quarter. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Jazz were up 108-72.

Mitchell and Bogdanovic each had 5 points in the quarter but Joe Ingles was the one who went off in the third. He finished with 11 points and 3-of-4 shooting from downtown. Steph Curry also had 11 points in the third.

When the fourth quarter rolled around, the Jazz and Warriors both emptied their benches about five minutes into the final period.

The Jazz have now won 8 straight games and are 12-4 on the year. They will continue their home stand on Tuesday, January 26 against the New York Knicks. That was the last team to beat the Jazz when they met at Madison Square Garden on January 6. Tip-off between the Jazz and Knicks will be at 7 p.m. MST on AT&T SportsNet.
