SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz two-game winning streak was snapped with a 116-111 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in Salt Lake City.

Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with 24 points, Lauri Marrkanen added 21, and Collin Sexton scored 19 in the loss.

Anfernee Simons scored 45 while Jerami Grant added 33 to lead the Blazers.

First Quarter

The Trail Blazers jumped out to an early 13-8 run on a perfect 6-6 shooting, but the Jazz answered back with an 8-2 run to retake the lead 16-15.

Anfernee Simons hit a trio of three-pointers in a four-possession stretch to fuel an 11-0 run to build a double-digit Portland lead midway through the quarter.

Simons finished with 23 first quarter points while Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with nine.

After one the Jazz trailed Portland 40-31.

Second Quarter

The Jazz defense struggled to find any traction against the Trail Blazers, especially in transition as Portland repeatedly go easy shots at the rim.

Simons continued his hot shooting in the second quarter adding 10 points and bringing his first half total to 33 points on 7-12 shooting from the three-point line.

Meanwhile, three Jazz players scored in double-digits led by Markkanen’s 13.

At the break the Jazz trail the Blazers 69-60.

Third Quarter

Jarred Vanderbilt made a career-high four three-pointers against the Trail Blazers, knocking down 4-4 through the first three quarters.

The Jazz battled back to tie the game at 79 with seven minutes left in the third after trailing by as much as 15 in the first half.

The game got chippy late in the third quarter due to some questionable non-calls, but the Trail Blazers took advantage and rebuilt a small lead while the Jazz argued calls.

After three the Trail Blazers led the Jazz 92-90.

Fourth Quarter

The Blazers lead climbed to five midway through the third quarter as the Jazz struggled to close possessions with defensive rebounds.

However, Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton stepped up and tied the game at 109 with three minutes left to play.

The Jazz took a 111-110 lead in the final minute, but a Lauri Markkanen turnover and a Jordan Clarkson foul allowed Simons to give the Blazers a one-point lead at the free-throw line.

Three turnovers in the final 26 seconds prevented the team from getting a chance to tie the game as the Jazz lost in Utah 116-111 to the Portland Trail Blazers.
