SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Though Quin Snyder is recognized as one of the best coaches in the NBA, he still finds himself asking new Utah Jazz minority owner Dwyane Wade for advice about the game, and welcomes the input for his team’s players.

During the Jazz game one victory over Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, Wade was captured on camera coaching up All-Star Donovan Mitchell in the second half on how to attack the LA defense.

Rather than fight Wade’s input, Snyder said he seeks out the advice himself.

“I’ve asked him to weigh in on some things for me personally,” Snyder admitted. “We’ve had a number of text exchanges, I try not to wear him out because he’s a busy guy.”

In addition to owning a minority share of the Jazz, Wade serves as a commentator on TNT’s Inside the NBA, hosts “The Cube” game show on the network, and is active in the Florida real estate market.

“It’s been really great for me personally to be able to use him as a resource,” Snyder said. “I try not to over overburdened him, but he’s just been unbelievably receptive.”

While some have wondered whether Wade’s input towards Jazz players might conflict with Snyder’s vision of the team, the Jazz coach recognized there’s always room for input from a player as experienced as Wade.

“I don’t ask a lot of questions about what they’re talking about,” Snyder said. “I trust that we’re all on the same page and there’s probably things that Dwyane’s capable of giving him that I’m not, which I think is a positive thing.”

A 13-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA member, three-time champion, and Finals MVP, Wade has the type of resume few players in the history of the league can compete with. But more so than his long list of accolades in the NBA, Snyder said it’s the personal relationship between Wade and Mitchell that has helped most with his guidance on the floor.

“It’s a positive thing that he’s getting that information from someone that that truly cares about him and that Donovan really respects,” Snyder said of Wade and Mitchell. “He’s got a great feel for that, Donovan’s got a great feel for that, I think it’s great.”

The Jazz and Clippers will face off in game two Thursday night at Vivint Arena, with Wade offering Snyder and his roster a helping hand along the way.
