Mitchell, Gobert Fined For Complaints About Officials

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell have been fined for complaining about the game officials after the Utah Jazz loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
Mitchell was ejected in the final minute of the overtime loss and fined $25,000 for his criticism of the referees. The guard also “recklessly knocked over a water cooler while leaving the court.”
The All-Star offered a profanity-laced tirade about the lack of respect he perceived towards the Jazz from NBA officials.
“It’s really getting out of hand,” Mitchell said of the NBA’s officiating. “It’s really, really, really getting out of hand. And the league needs to do something about this. I want to see the Last Two-Minute report, I want to see it, but this is getting out of hand.”
On Thursday, the NBA admitted that the game officials blew six calls in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime that could have changed the outcome of the game.

Gobert was fined $20,000 for his comments which came well after the game had ended. The Jazz center spoke to the media unsolicited and echoed Mitchell’s sentiments.
“I feel like a lot of guys are able to do things that we’re not able to do,” Gobert said. “Our guys are not able to get some calls that everybody else in the **** league gets.”
Veteran point guard Mike Conley and Jazz coach Quin Snyder also shared their perspective on the lopsided officiating, but neither the guard nor the coach were fined for their comments.
