SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz closed their six-game homestand on Thursday night with a 1-5 record after falling 121-110 to the Houston Rockets.

Collin Sexton scored 21 points to lead Utah, while Alperen Sengun led all scorers with 33 points.

Team Responds Well After Poor Performance

Will Hardy was despondent after Tuesday’s blowout loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

“The decisions that have to be made moving forward are much bigger than whether you get to play on Thursday,” Hardy said.

The team fell 140-103 to Memphis, and was outscored 76-38 out in the second half.

The coach returned to his traditional 10-man rotation against the Rockets, and by and large, the team responded on both ends of the floor.

“That type of effort, flying around defensively, competing, sharing the ball on offense, playing with maximum effort for a majority of the game — that is what you can build on,” Hardy said.

Keyonte George scored 17 points and added eight assists on an efficient 5-11 shooting from the floor, and was a team-high +9 in 29 minutes.

Isaiah Collier added 16 points and five assists on 7-12 shooting.

Kyle Filipowski missed his first five shots, but responded by making his final five, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in 33 minutes.

Sophomore Brice Sensabaugh had arguably the best game offensively of any Jazzman scoring 17 points in a perfect 6-6 shooting, including 5-5 from the three-point line.

While the Jazz weren’t able to fully bounce back from Tuesday’s loss with a victory, the young players on the roster responded better than could be expected.

“Everybody took accountability for what happened in the second half of last game, and I feel like today was a good bounce back,” Hardy said.

Long Road Trip Awaits

After dropping five of their last six games at home, the Jazz now head back on the road, where they will play their next five contests away from Utah.

The road trip begins in Denver against the Nuggets who own the third-best record in the West.

The team then travels to Charlotte for their easiest game of the road trip, and one that might have enormous implications in the final lottery standings.

After facing Charlotte, they’ll make stops in Texas to see the Rockets, Indiana to face the Pacers, and Atlanta to play the Hawks before returning home to host the Portland Trail Blazers on April 9.

The team has lost 15 straight games on the road, and won’t get many nights off over the next 10 days.
