Former Jazz Guard Ronnie Price Joins Alma Mater UVU Coaching Staff

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Jazz guard Ronnie Price is joining the coaching staff at his alma mater Utah Valley University. UVU head coach Mark Madsen announced the addition on Monday.
“Ronnie Price is a tremendous leader who will have a huge impact on the UVU men’s basketball program,” Madsen said. “I got to know Ronnie playing summer pickup basketball in 2004 at UVU. At that time, I was blown away not only with his basketball skill, but with who he is as a person. Ronnie later joined the Lakers and his knowledge of the game stood head and shoulders above the rest. Ronnie is going to have a huge impact here. I feel incredibly excited that he is joining the UVU staff.”
Price averaged 19.7 points and 3.9 rebounds during three seasons at UVU. The guard signed with the Sacramento Kings as an undrafted free-agent in 2005 and appeared in 29 games as a rookie.

Price spent two seasons with the Kings before signing with the Jazz in 2007. Price served as a reserve guard in Utah for four seasons averaging 3.8 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 rebounds in 232 games.
In total, Price spent 12 seasons in the NBA including stops in Portland, Phoenix, Orlando, and with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The high flying guard led UVU to the NCAA Division I Provisional Championship against Florida Gulf Coast and earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.
Since retiring from his playing career, Price has served as a scout with the Phoenix organization. In 2010, Price was inducted into the UVU Hall of Fame.
