Donovan Mitchell Crosses Over LaMelo Ball For Easy Three

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It’s hard being a rookie in the NBA, even if you’re a top-three pick. Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball learned that lesson from Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell late in the second quarter in a game between the two teams.
With 4:09 left in the first half, Mitchell took Ball off the dribble, showed him his patterned step back which left the Hornets rookie spinning, before casually stepping back and canning the three-point shot.
It was Mitchell’s second consecutive three of the second quarter when being defended by Ball, giving the guard eight first-half points.

Mitchell wasn’t the only Jazz player to have it going from deep.
The Jazz hit 12 of their 27 threes in the first half, including 8-16 in the second quarter to turn a 12 deficit early in the first quarter into a 15 point lead at the half.
In total, seven Jazz players have made threes, led by Mike Conley who is 3-5, while three other Jazz players have makes from deep.
The Jazz snapped their 11 game streak having made at least 15 three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Atlanta Hawks. Though 24 minutes in Charlotte, the Jazz look to be on their way to starting another long streak.
