Brice Sensabaugh Sparks Big First Quarter Run For Jazz

Jan 15, 2025, 8:03 PM | Updated: Jan 16, 2025, 1:06 pm

SALT LAKE CITY- After running away from the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night, Brice Sensabaugh and the Utah Jazz are looking for their second consecutive victory as they welcome the Charlotte Hornets to Delta Center.

It was a nightmare start for the Jazz in the first quarter. The Hornets opened a double-digit lead not even halfway through the opening frame and the Jazz seemed completely discombobulated, air-balling four shots in a row.

It seemed like Charlotte might run away with the contest early, that was until Brice Sensabaugh came in off the bench.

When Sensabaugh entered the game with 6:51 remaining in the quarter, the Hornets were up by a score of 18-7. He drained his first shot attempt, a three-pointer, and then followed it up with a tough Euro step layup that led to an and-1 opportunity.

Sensabaugh scored six points in 20 seconds, pulling Utah back to within five and igniting what would be a 23-8 run for the Jazz that gave them a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Brice would go on to score six more points during the run to lead all scorers with 12 at the end of the quarter.

Jazz Keyonte George Expected To Return Against Hornets

Keyonte George has been cleared to return to the Jazz’s lineup after missing the last four games with left heel inflammation.

The 16th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft is averaging 15.6 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 39 percent from the floor and 35 percent from three in his second season with the Jazz.

Two-way contract players Elijah Harkless and Oscar Tshiebwe will also be available for Jazz coach Will Hardy against the Hornets.

Starting center Walker Kessler is back in the lineup after missing Sunday’s win due to rest.

Kessler leads the NBA in field goal percentage at 72 percent. He’s also ranks seventh in rebounds per game, and second in blocks.
