Mitchell, Lillard Remain Among Top Guards In Latest NBA All-Star Fan Vote

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard remained among the top 10 Western Conference guards in the third fan voting update released by the NBA.

Mitchell stayed at No. 7 with 673, 917 fan votes while Lillard held steady at No. 3 among Western Conference guards with 984,140 votes in the update released on Thursday, January 16.

The Jazz and Blazers guards have remained at the No. 3 and No. 7 positions since the first fan vote was released on January 2.

Donovan Mitchell

Mitchell continued to be the only Jazzman listed on the fan vote.

The Jazz haven’t had an all-star since 2017 when former Jazzman and current Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward. Mitchell received nearly 33,000 more votes than Hayward in the first returns.

In 39 games this season, Mitchell has averaged 24.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. He ranks No. 15 in the NBA for scoring per game.

Damian Lillard

Lillard’s averaged 26.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. He ranks No. 7 in scoring in the league.

The Blazers point guard played for the Weber State Wildcats from 2008-2012. He was drafted by Portland with the 6th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

He scored 1,934 points during his time as a Wildcat. His jersey was retired by the university in 2017.

Fan Vote

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James received the most fan votes followed by Dallas’ Luka Dončić and Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The 2020 NBA All-Star teams are drafted from a pool of players voted as starters and reserves. The rosters will be selected by two captains. The captains will be the top vote-getters from each conference. Currently, those captains would be James and Antetokounmpo.

The All-Star game starters voted on by the fans will be announced on Thursday, January 23. Fans can vote for players on vote.NBA.com, the NBA app, Google.com, or Google Assistant.

NBA All-Star voting ends on Monday, January 20.

All-Star game reserves are selected by NBA head coaches. The reserves will be announced on Thursday, January 30.
