SALT LAKE CITY – Start fast, score goals, finish strong — it’s a proven formula.
Real Salt Lake checked two of the three boxes before fans had even settled into their seats Saturday night against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

It started less than a minute after the first kick.
18-year-old forward Zavier Gozo, fresh off receiving his high school diploma last week, was the recipient of an excellent lad pass from Diego Luna.
He hit the brakes just outside the six-yard box, moved to his right, and snuck a shot past the defense and Vancouver goalkeeper into the bottom right corner.
Gozo became the third-youngest goal-scorer, and also scored the seventh first-minute goal in club history.

With an early assist in his back pocket, Luna was far from done.
The Moon Boy was there to clean up in front of the net after a deflection from Yohei Takaoka. The score was Luna’s eighth of the season, which tied his previous career high in just 13 starts.
Luna recently received news of a call-up to the USMNT for the June training camp. He is expected to head to Chicago after the Vancouver matchup. Fittingly, he made his impact felt early.

The early onslaught marked the first time in RSL history that the club has scored twice in the first five minutes. It also tied the MLS record for quickest 2-0 lead.
RSL Looks For Revenge Against Vancouver At Home
Real Salt Lake continues to look for its first win of the month, while the Whitecaps come in having no losses in their last 12 matches.
Although worth noting that both sides have two draws this month, Real’s winless streak began on May 3 with a 2-1 loss to Vancouver at BC Place.
The Caps have the third-best record in the MLS at 8-4-1. RSL sits down in the bottom third of the west with a 4-2-8 record.
Former Real Salt Lake captain Damir Kreilach will make his return to America First Field. Since moving up north, Kreilach has played RSL three times, scored one goal, and taken one win.
