SALT LAKE CITY – USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino unveiled the 27-player roster for June training camp, with Real Salt Lake standout Diego Luna earning a spot among eight midfielders.
Players will report to Chicago on June 1 to begin ramping up for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in mid-June and even the World Cup, which is just over a year from today.

Following an impressive U.S. youth career, Luna made his senior debut in January 2024. He has played in four games with two assists since then.
The most recent appearance, in the CONCACAF Nations League, marked an important moment in Luna’s national career. With an assist and a late near-equalizer, the RSL star was a consensus top performer for the USA.
The 27-player training camp field will likely be trimmed for the Gold Cup, and Luna is all but guaranteed to make the final roster.

Although the immediate focus is on the Gold Cup, Pochettino explained the camp will also serve as a building block toward the 2026 World Cup.
âAs we continue preparations for the World Cup, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with this group of players for an extended period, and itâs important we take advantage of every moment we have together,â Pochettino said. “Of course, we want to win and to perform in a very good way. These players have earned the chance to compete for our fans and to show their quality and mentality.â
With Christian Pulisic opting to rest during this summerâs tournament, Luna could be in line for an expanded role with the national team.
