SANDY, Utah- Braian Ojeda and Real Salt Lake entered their final Phase 1 Leagues Cup matchup with Querétaro on Wednesday with a far outside chance of advancing to the Quarter Finals, but they needed a lot of goals to do it.
The first half hour came and went between RSL and the Liga MX side with little action, but Braian Ojeda opened the second act with a bang, netting his third goal of the competition.
Braian Ojeda Puts Real Salt Lake On Top
It was the 31st minute and Real Salt Lake had another spell of possesion in ther attacking half.
A cross-field pass came from far side to near, finding Sam Junqua near the end line. Sam pulled it down, and instead of crossing the ball into the box, he dumped it backward to Braian Ojeda who received the pass in the top corner of the 18-yard box.
Braian wasted no time squaring his body and sending a bending ball toward the far corner of the net. There was not much pace, but the placement was elite, sailing the keeper and falling right into the top bin.
The goal was Ojeda’s third in two matches, continuing his scorching hot scoring pace.

Real Salt Lake In The 2025 Leagues Cup

Following their emotional victory, Real’s match just a few days later against Atlético de San Luis was a complete flip of the script. Braian Ojeda equalized for the home side with less than ten minutes left in the match, sending it to penalties, but San Luis went on to win in a landslide.
Tonight, Real Salt Lake faces off against Querétaro with an outside shot of advancing to the quarter finals , but there is still intrigue with the possibility of new addition Rwan Cruz, from the Brazilian side Botafogo, making his first appearance for the Claret and Cobalt.
