Tony Finau Struggles In Final Round Of PGA Championship

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – After a top-five finish at the Masters in April, Utah native Tony Finau couldn’t carry the momentum into the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.
Finau finished the fourth and final round of the major with a 79, +9 to finish the tournament with an 11-over score.
He had a great front-nine scorecard with pars on every hole except for No. 5, where he had a bogey. The back-nine was a different story, he bogeyed No. 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 and 18. Finau double-bogeyed No. 13 and had a par on No. 15 and 17.
Finau shot even-par in the first round before struggling in the second round with a three-over score. He bounced back in the third round, shooting one-under but all for not with a nine-over score in the final round.
Out of the 72 holes played at the PGA Championship, Finau had two double-bogeys, 16 bogeys, 47 pars, 5 birdies and 2 eagles.
Brooks Koepka held on to win his second straight PGA Championship with 8-over par and claimed his fourth major title of his career.
The next major will be the U.S. Open on June 13 to 16 at Pebble Beach. The PGA Tour will hold three more tournaments before the U.S. Open, which could benefit Finau as he continues to search for his first major championship.
