Former Utah LB Cody Barton Agrees To Deal With Tennessee Titans

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Football linebacker Cody Barton agreed to a deal with the Tennessee Titans, according to multiple reports.
The NFL calendar lists Wednesday 2 p.m. MT as the official start time for free agency, however, action is underway.
Currently in the league’s tampering period, a flood of deals have been brokered already but cannot be signed until Wednesday.

After a phenomenal year with the Denver Broncos, Barton is headed to Tennessee on a 3-year, $21 million dollar deal.

Barton started 14 games for the Broncos this season. He notched 106 tackles for the Broncos last year (53 solo), 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, and two interceptions.
He also scored a defensive touchdown in New Orleans back in Week 7.
The 2024 season was Barton’s third straight season north of the 100-tackle mark, albeit with three different teams.
He’s been relegated to being a one-year mercenary for the last little bit, so it’s good to see him get a little bit of security in the form of a three-year deal in Tennessee.
Local product, Cody Barton
Prior to his college and professional careers, Barton was a standout player at Brighton High School. After his prep career, the linebacker played at the University of Utah from 2015-18.
During his time with the Utes, Barton recorded 234 total tackles, 131 solo tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one interception, 11 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 47 games played.
Following his time at Utah, Barton was selected by the Seahawks with the No. 88 overall pick during the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Seahawks, Barton signed with the Commanders in March 2023, and then signed with the Broncos last year.
During his six seasons in the league, the former Ute has posted 458 total tackles, 260 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, five interceptions, and one touchdown in played in 95 NFL games.
