Will Jordan Love Emerge As A Top Ten Quarterback Next Season?

Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love is ready to take on the 2025 season with full health. Could he become an unquestioned top ten quarterback?

In a recent poll from NFL executives, coaches, and scouts, Love was left out of the top ten but named as an honorable mention.

The poll had the usual suspects in the top five: Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson. Love is unlikely to enter that conversation. However, he could compete with guys like Baker Mayfield (10) and even Matthew Stafford (6), who is now 37 years old.

This last week, Love was also placed 68th on the NFL Top 100, 34 placements lower than his ranking in 2024.

Last season, Love missed two games with injury but still finished with 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also scrambled for 83 yards and a touchdown. Compared to 2023, he had fewer yards and touchdowns but the same number of interceptions.

An interesting note, though, despite the clear statistical regression, he had a higher quarterback rating in 2024. He was also sacked just 14 times compared to 30 in 2023.

If he can recreate his statistical success from 2023 and his efficiency from last season, Love could be set up for a career year. New faces on the offense and improvements on the offensive line can help him get there.

Packers In The NFC North

The Packers may need a step up from their shot caller, regardless.

Last year, the NFC North was debatably the toughest division in the NFL. Three of the four teams finished with 11 or more wins.

Heading into 2025, the Lions should be just as dangerous, and the Bears could see improvements with their young roster. The Vikings are a true wild card. Sam Darnold brought them a lot of success, but it remains to be seen if that was a one-off season. Minnesota now has all of its eggs in the basket of second-year QB J.J. McCarthy.

Of course, assuming good health, Green Bay will absolutely be in the mix for a postseason appearance.

About Jordan Love

Before his time in the league, the Bakersfield, California native played at USU from 2016-19. During his time with the Aggies, Love threw for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions with a completion rate of 61 percent.

In 2020, the Packers traded up to select Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

During his rookie campaign, the former USU standout was inactive for each of Green Bay’s games.

Love saw limited action in his second and third seasons with the Packers and continued to serve as the backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Following the 2022 season, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to be Green Bay’s QB1 in 2023.

In his first three seasons, Love threw for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 60.2 percent completion rate in 10 games played.

In 2023, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.

In two playoff games, the former USU signal-caller threw for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.
