SALT LAKE CITY – Former Corner Canyon star Jaxson Dart is headed to the Big Apple. The New York Giants stunned the NFL by trading back into the first round to draft the Ole Miss quarterback at No. 25.
Clearly, New York got its guy. But, how will Dart fit with the Giants from day one, and what does his future look like?

Giants Bet On Jaxson Dart To Lead Franchise Forward
Heading into the draft, New York was one of the teams expected to make a play for a quarterback.
However, it wasn’t known if they would be eager enough to select one with their No. 3 pick. It was also unknown if they would go with Shedeur Sanders or Dart.
That second question wasn’t entirely unanswered. Giants head coach Brian Daboll made it clear that he liked Dart from early on in the pre-draft process.
“Daboll knows him in and out. … This one is something that they’ve always had in their back pocket; a guy they have always liked.”@PSchrags shares why Jaxson Dart is a no-brainer for the Giants. pic.twitter.com/QjR5lMZJqh

Daboll mirrored those thoughts with the media after the first round came to an end.
Sat with general manager Joe Schoen, Daboll explained why New York was so aggressive in pursuing Dart on day one of the NFL Draft.
“I like the way he plays. I like his competitive fire. I like his accuracy. I like his ability to push the ball down the field, his athletic ability to run with the football.”

Jaxson Dart’s Next Chapter In New York
Although the Ole Miss product seems to have found a home in New York, the Giants aren’t handing over the keys just yet.
The team signed veteran quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year, $10.5 million guaranteed deal in March, and the front office has already confirmed he’ll be the Week 1 starter.

The Giants’ goal is clear — have Dart learned from an experienced professional and build him up until he’s ready to start in year two or three.
With that said, Dart really seems to be the dream QB for what New York is trying to do.
In 2024, New York finished with a 3-14 record and had a bottom-five passing offense. Daniel Jones is a dual-threat quarterback, but his passing ability isn’t where you want it to be. They brought Wilson in, who has also shown the ability to improvise and get out of the pocket.
Dart accounted for nearly a quarter of Ole Miss’ rushing yards while also throwing for over 4000 yards. With rising star receiver Malik Nabers out wide, the Giants can build a truly dynamic pass-rush offense with some more acquisitions and development.
