SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah and current Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith went undercover on social media to respond to questions and comments.

Alex Smith was on a 10 minute YouTube clip undercover where he signed up for social media accounts to answer questions and respond to comments for GQ.

The video can be found below, which is full of honest answers along with some funny responses on Twitter, YouTube and Reddit.

Smith recently won the AP Comeback Player of the Year. On Twitter, someone asked if their was any doubt that Smith wasn’t the Comeback Player of the Year.

“Well, apparently there’s one person that did not vote for me. So I guess it wasn’t that for sure,” Smith said.

Then Smith explained the play that he suffered his gruesome leg injury in which he came back and started for the Washington Football Team in 2020. Smith read the comment and responded.

“During a game against the Houston Texans on November 18 2018, Smith suffered a spiral and compound fracture to his tibia and fibula in his right leg when he was sacked by Kareem Jackson and JJ Watt. (Response) This is completely factual and awesome, reliving it. Thanks a lot, JJ. Everybody says JJ is such a nice guy. The crazy thing about this play is I really felt like it was a pretty innocent play and sack by NFL standards,” Smith stated. “It was one of those that I felt like I was kind of conceding the sack and just trying to protect the football and weirdly enough getting hit by JJ on the front and Kareem on the side, it just obviously was enough that my leg gave out. I remember a really funny feeling in my leg. It wasn’t like I knew it was broken immediately, it went fuzzy. That’s what it felt like. Then really, it was the visual when I looked down and could see that my leg obviously wasn’t straight anymore.”

Another funny response to a comment on social media:

“Alex Smith mentored three quarterbacks that eventually went on to a Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes Colin Kaepernick and Nick Foles,” Smith read. “(Response) Wish I got to play a Super Bowl. Always the bridesmaid never the bride, I guess. It’s an honor to somehow people think I deserve any kind of credit with these three guys. But again, flattering.”

This response has some good humor as well.

“(Comment) Can we all agree that it should be two-hand touch rules when it comes to Alex Smith? I’m always so nervous watching him play can’t even imagine how his wife and family feel,” Smith read. “(Response) I don’t disagree with this. If someone could tell Aaron Donald this that would be awesome. When I got home after the first game that I played in and I got tackled, my wife and family were celebrating and really made it a big deal for me, kind of the milestone, and they seem so happy. Then I saw some pictures of their faces during the game as I was getting tackled and clearly a very different emotion for my wife and kids.”

Smith also discussed his foundation, potentially coming back for another season in the NFL and much more.
