Tony Finau Makes Cut At Genesis Invitational Following Solid Second Round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Utah native and PGA Tour golfer Tony Finau made the cut at The Genesis Invitational after putting up a solid round two on Friday.
The 99th Genesis Open took place at the Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego, California, from Thursday, February 13, to Sunday, February 16. The PGA Tour event is typically held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Due to the Las Angeles wildfires, it was relocated.
Tony Finau Starts Strong, Comfortable Makes Cut At Torrey Pines
In round one on Thursday, Finau had six bogeys and one double bogey to end his round at four-over-par.
Knowing that he needed to get some strokes back, he got to work early.

Finau opened his round with a birdie and finished the front nine with four to come in at three-under with nine wholes left.
Unfortunately, the back nine wasn’t nearly as kind to him. He recorded a par on 10, 11, and 12. Then his second bogey of the round on hole 13. After four more pars, he ended on a strong note with a birdie on 18.
He finished the round at three-under-par which moved his overall score to +1.
The difference for Finau was his work around the green. In round one, he did not even rank in the top 50 for strokes gained around the green. On day two, he was the second-best in the field.
In terms of all-around strokes saved, he jumped from 51st to 15th.
