HURRICANE, Utah – American Hailee Cooper had a special opening round at the 2025 Copper Rock Championship, equaling the tournament record with a nine-under 63, taking a two-shot lead into day two.
This is the third consecutive year that a 63 has been posted on the first day. The previous two champions each posted 63s on their way to a title.
“I couldn’t miss off the tee, I think I hit every fairway,” said Cooper following the round. “Even my shots that I missed the green, I would hit a good shot. It just felt like everything was really coming easy today, which doesn’t happen often.”
The first round of the tournament took place on Thursday, May 15.
