SALT LAKE CITY – BYU offensive lineman Sonny Makasini is a Jack of all trades along the Cougar offensive line, and he figures to play a significant role in the team’s offensive success in 2025.
Makasini is next to appear on the 2025 KSL Sports Zone Hans & Scotty G 60 in 60 watchlist.
“Sonny Makasini is a complete lineman,” BYU head coach Kalani Sitake began. “He can play so many positions, but he’s focused on the interior three, which gives coach TJ Woods a lot of flexibility to be able to use him at left guard, center, and right guard.”

The Provo, Utah native’s experience will give his team a boost wherever and whenever he is called upon.
“(He) has played a lot of reps for us and has started,” Sitake continued. “You look at his ability to change and get us the best five alignment on the field. It’s because of his ability to just be versatile as an o-lineman.”
