SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah tight end Carsen Ryan is heading from SLC to Provo and is already making waves with the Cougars coaching staff.
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said that Ryan can do it all from the TE position and the team is excited to use him both on the line and down the field.
“Carsen Ryan is extremely athletic and physical as a tight end,” Sitake said. “I think, sometimes, because he’s committed to being physical and blocking, your temptation is to leave him at the line of scrimmage because he can control the line, block defensive ends and tackles. But his ability to run routes and catch the ball is something where we can use him as an H-back or even a slot receiver. When you have someone like that, that’s a complete package; it’s going to be a lot of fun. We’re looking forward to some big plays that he can make for us this season.”
Ryan was ranked #52 on last year’s 60 in 60 list as a Utah Utes transfer.
