SALT LAKE CITY – At 6’2 and better than 300 pounds, BYU defensive tackle John Taumoepeau will have the chance to wreak havoc on Big 12 offensive lines in 2025.
Taumoepeau is next on the 2025 KSL Sports Zone Hans & Scotty G. 60 in 60 watchlist.
“A big, physical (defensive) tackle,” Sitake opened. “He’s actually become one of the favorites for coach (Sione) Po’uha to use in the middle.”

Known as JT to his teammates, Sitake looks forward to watching Taumoepeau disrupt opponents.
“He’s a d-tackle that thinks and plays like an end, but he’s got the size for d tackle,” Sitake continued. “He can hold his ground, and he doesn’t mind the physical part of the game. He actually thrives on being physical in the line of scrimmage and loves those challenges… He’s going to be really strong for us this year.”
