CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Utah Tech Trailblazers fell to the Austin Peay Governors, 30-17, at Fortera Stadium on Saturday.

The Blazers were in striking distance in the second half but were unable to score in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Utah Tech dropped to 2-8 on the season with the loss.

First Half

The Governors started with the ball and were able to put up some early points with a 23-yard field goal.

Austin Peay nearly put up six instead of three but a good defensive effort from Utah Tech prevented the score.

On the next four drives of the game, both sides were forced to punt relatively quickly.

Utah Tech only moved the chains three times in the opening quarter.

The Trailblazers looked deep to start the second quarter and were able to connect.

Jaivian Lofton took a catch 68 yards to the house to give Utah Tech a 7-3 lead.

Less than a minute later, the Trailblazers were able to build on this momentum.

Jordan Scott intercepted the Austin Peay quarterback to give the ball right back to the Blazers.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t capitalize on the turnover.

They were able to make it into field goal range but the kick was missed.

The Governors came down on their next drive and retook the lead with a 22-yard touchdown pass.

Utah Tech got one first down and then turned the ball over on a failed fourth down play on their next drive.

Austin Peay responded with another field goal to take a 13-7 lead.

Neither side was able to get much more going before the conclusion of the first half.

Second Half

Utah Tech started with the ball after the break and took three minutes to get into range for a field goal.

The Governors one-upped the Blazers with a 52-yard touchdown pass on their first drive of the second half.

Utah Tech needed to make something happen to prevent the game from slipping away from them.

The Blazers put together an 8-play, 86-yard drive that was capped off with a Daniel Thomason receiving touchdown.

Utah Tech trailed Austin Peay by three, 20-17, with five minutes left in the third.

Unfortunately, things went south for Utah Tech after the third-quarter touchdown.

The Governors nailed a field goal, forced a three-and-out, and then followed up with a rushing touchdown.

Utah Tech now trailed by 13 with 11 minutes left.

On their final three drives, Utah Tech went three-and-out, threw an interception, and tunred it over on downs.

The Trailblazers lost to the Austin Peay Governors on the road, 30-17.
