SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU quarterback Zach Wilson listed the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers as potential landing spots for him in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Wilson, who announced he would leave BYU early and declare for the NFL Draft on January 1, recently discussed which teams would be a good fit for him during an interview with BYU TV’s BYU Sports Nation.

”One just off the top of my head is the 49ers just because I’m very familiar with what Kyle Shanahan does and the system that they have in place and I think I’d fit in well there,” Wilson said.”Another one that I actually haven’t watched much of, but I know they have a good scheme is with Joe Brady and the Carolina Panthers… so that’d be another great landing spot.”

The BYU great said that he and Burrow have the same agent. That relationship allowed Wilson to talk with the No. 1 overall pick from the 2019 NFL Draft “about how great Joe Brady is and how offensive-minded he is.”

After leading BYU to an 11-1 record in 2020, many NFL experts have projected Wilson as a first round selection as well.

“At that level, I think you know you can make it work with any team you go with,” Wilson added. “I think there’s a lot of amazing coaches at any time you end up with.”

ESPN’s Todd McShay listed Wilson as the No. 4 pick to the Atlanta Falcons in his most recent mock draft.

“For me it’s not about as high as I go. It’s not about the money,” Wilson said. “It’s really about the opportunity in situation. That’s what I’m excited for, is where I land, finding a place that fits me.”

Wilson passed for 3,692 yards and completed 74 percent of his passes during his impressive junior campaign.

The Draper, Utah native finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting for the 2020 season.

Wilson is currently in Southern California, where he is training in preparation for the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine and NFL Draft.

The 2021 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on April 29 in Cleveland, Ohio.
