Kyle Van Noy Agrees To Lucrative Free Agency Deal With Miami Dolphins

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU star linebacker Kyle Van Noy is on the move. The two-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots is signing with the Patriots AFC East rival in the Miami Dolphins.
Monday was the first day that NFL teams could “legally tamper” with free agents as the league calendar officially opened up for business. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport, Van Noy is signing a four-year contract worth $51 million and $30 million is guaranteed.

Van Noy joins a Miami defense that has been very active in the free-agent market. Along with Van Noy, the Dolphins also agreed to terms with former Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones and Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson.
The rise in Van Noy’s career has been a sight to behold. During Van Noy’s time with the Detroit Lions as a second-round Draft pick, many around the NFL wrote off KVN as a “bust,” for the lack of production in the motor city. Then Van Noy was traded to New England where he was a star linebacker for the Patriots the past three years.
In the last three full seasons with the Patriots, Kyle Van Noy started in 43 games, had 221 tackles, and recorded 15.5 sacks.

Van Noy joins a Dolphins franchise that exceeded expectations a season ago going 5-11 in a season where they were expected to tank for a high draft pick.
When he played at BYU from 2010-2013, Van Noy left the school as one of the best playmaking defensive players the Cougar Football program has ever produced. Van Noy had 226 tackles and 25 sacks in his storied career at outside linebacker for the Cougars.
