Chiefs DB Daniel Sorensen Halts Texans On Fake Punt

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former BYU and current Kansas City defensive back Daniel Sorensen stopped Houston Texans safety Justin Reid short of the line to gain on a fake punt attempt to regain possession for the Chiefs.
Sorensen’s stop came during the second quarter of the AFC Divisional Round playoff game between the Texans and Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, January 12.
The former Cougar recognized the fake punt attempt and tracked down Reid two yards short of the first down marker on 4th & 4. Kansas City took over at the Texans’ 33-yard line with 8:28 left in the second quarter down 24-7.

After the stop, Sorensen had recorded 5 total tackles including 1 solo tackle. He had the second-most tackles on the Chiefs after the fake punt fail.

Sorensen’s stop led to Kansas City’s second touchdown for the game. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with tight end Travis Kelce for a TD with 8:05 remaining in the first half to make it 24-14 Texans.

Before the Chiefs got on the board, Houston held a 24-0 advantage early in the second quarter.
