After Being Cut, Weddle Finds New Life As Rams Captain

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After being cut by the Baltimore Ravens this past spring, former Utah defensive back Eric Weddle has found new life in the NFL and was named a captain for the Los Angeles Rams for the 2019 season.
Weddle, a 12-year veteran in the NFL was named a captain for the Rams’ upcoming season on Thursday, September.
After spending three seasons with the Ravens, Weddle was cut in March 2019.

Weddle joined the 2018 NFC Champions less than a week after his Baltimore departure.
This will be his second stint with a pro squad in California. Weddle was a member of the San Diego Chargers for his first nine seasons in the NFL before joining the Ravens in 2016.
The Rams signed Weddle following a 13-3 defeat to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI in February 2019.
Weddle will be one of six captains for the Rams. He tweeted how grateful he was for the opportunity saying, “What a honor!!!! Truley humbled by this…..”

Weddle has had an impressive career in the NFL playing in 185 games including nine playoff appearances. He has recorded 1,067 tackles, 29 interceptions, and 5 touchdowns.
He’s been honored with six Pro Bowl appearances.
The DB played for the Utes from 2003-06. Following his time at Utah, Weddle was drafted by the Chargers in the second draft of the 2007 NFL Draft.
