Late Rally By Utah Warriors Comes Up Short In Loss To Seattle Seawolves

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Warriors gave a great effort in the late stages of the match but ultimately fell on the road to the Seattle Seawolves 20-17.
It was a great defensive performance from the Seattle Seawolves as they held the Utah Warriors without a try for 70 minutes. Utah trailed by 10 in the late stages of the match but still had opportunities to pick up their first win of the season.
They have lost by a combined total of five points in their first two games of the 2022 season.

Utah Warriors Come Up Short In Road Contest Against Seattle Seawolves
In the first 10 minutes of the match, Utah controlled 76% of possession. Seattle bounced back in the next 20 minutes and made it more of a 50/50 split.
The first points of the match came from the home side in the 15th minute with a try. Seattle added two points on a successful kick, taking a 7-0 lead. Utah responded with a three-point penalty goal in the 27th minute to trim the deficit to 7-3.
In the 35th minute, the Seawolves extended their lead with a try and a successful conversion. They were up 14-3 near the midway point of the match.

Not much was going on scoring-wise in the second half before the Seawolves converted a penalty goal to stretch their lead to 17-3. The try drought for Utah ended when they were able to score a try in the 70th minute. After nailing the conversion, Utah pulled within seven, 17-10 in the final moments of the match.
Moments later, Seattle hit a big penalty goal to extend their advantage to 20-10 in the 74th minute. In the 78th minute, St. George, Utah native Chad Gough made a nice run up the sideline for a try. After the conversion, it was a three-point game again with Seattle holding a 20-17 lead.

The Warriors dropped their record to 0-2-0 on the season. They will wrap up their three-game road trip on Saturday, February 19 against Austin Gilgronis at 6 p.m. MT on KSLSports.com and the KSL Sports app.
