KSL Sports Rewind High School Football Preseason Top 25: Outside Looking In

SALT LAKE CITY – The High School football season is approaching and the state is filled with talented programs that are ready to battle for a state championship in the state of Utah.
Dane Stewart and Jeff Hansen of KSL Sports Rewind revealed five teams that are just on the outside of their preseason top 25 ranking.

26. Olympus Titans, 5A Region 6
Head Coach: Brandon Burt, 3rd season
Last Season: 7-4 overall, 5-1 Region 6, share of region title
Key Returners: LB Adam Bywater, LB Sam Ngata
Season Opener: vs. Cedar Valley on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM
27. Woods Cross Wildcats, 5A Region 6
Head Coach: Brody Benson, 5th season
Last Season: 7-5 overall, 4-3 Region 5, tied for 2nd in region, eliminated in 2nd round of playoffs
Key Returners: QB Jesse Simmons, RB Viliami Tapa’atoutai, LB Hayden Thorne
Season Opener: at Syracuse on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM
28. Morgan Trojans, 3A North
Head Coach: Jared Barlow, 6th season
Last Season: 13-0 overall, 5-0 3A North, region champions, 3A state champions
Key Returners: Lost a lot of key position players from last year’s team. Return S/WR Luke Bauerle, DT Miles Sydenham
Season Opener: at Ridgeline on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM
29. Mountain Crest Mustangs, 4A Region 11
Head Coach: Ryan Visser, 4th season
Last Season: 7-4 overall, 4-2 Region 11, tied for 2nd in region, eliminated in 2nd round of playoffs
Key Returners: QB Brayden Larsen, WR Mikah Clements, WR Kai Passey, RB Carter Egbert
Season Opener: at East on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 PM
30. Clearfield Falcons, 5A Region 5
Head Coach: Cody Caputo, 2nd season
Last Season: 1-9 overall, 0-7 Region 5, last in region, did not qualify for playoffs

Game Night Live
Each week, Jeremiah Jensen and Stevenson Sylvester broadcast one high school football game from anywhere around the state of Utah.
Jeremiah Jensen is an Emmy award-winning sports anchor and reporter who has been covering sports in Utah for KSL since October 2005.
Jensen, a native of Star Valley, Wyoming has a passion for covering the sports teams he grew up watching. He recently won a regional Emmy and UBEE awards for Best Sports Story in 2011. His work has also been recognized by the Utah Society of Professional Journalists.
Sylvester is a former Utah Utes standout linebacker who played college football from 2006-09. He was a member of the Utah team that beat Alabama in the 2008 Sugar Bowl. Sylvester was selected in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 NFL Draft. He went on to play five seasons in the NFL, including four with the Steelers, and one with the Buffalo Bills.
The Game Night Live Game of the Week will be at Skyridge High School, where the Falcons will host the Mountain Ridge Sentinels. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM MT on Friday, August 15. The game will be streamed on the KSL Sports app, KSLSports.com, and the KSL+ app.
