SANDY, Utah – Utah Royals FC has added a handful of young players following the 2020 NWSL College Draft, headlined by first-round selection Tziarra King out of North Carolina State University.

After being selected with the 8th overall pick in the first round, King became the first player from NC State to be drafted into the NWSL. King played four seasons at NC State, starting every year that she was there. As a freshman, she led the team in goals scoring eight. She also led the team in goals during her sophomore and junior campaigns. King’s preferred position is up top, she is a natural goalscorer who has great goalscoring abilities.

The Royals also selected Kate Del Fava with the 12th pick in the second round as well as Cyera Hintzen with the 31st pick in the fourth round.

Midfielder, Del Fava, played her collegiate soccer at Illinois State where she scored 25 goals from 84 appearances. Following her 2019 season, Del Fava was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year following her senior season that included 17 goals, good enough to lead the conference.

Forward, Hintzen comes to Utah following a terrific collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns. The forward netted five goals while adding four assists to her stat sheet that saw Hintzen start all 17 games in 2019. In 2018, she became the first Longhorns player to earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors following her junior season that included 10 goals in 21 appearances.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tziarra, Kate and Cyera, to the Utah Royals FC family,” said Utah Royals FC General Manager Stephanie Lee. “With this draft we were hopeful to select talent that can make an impact immediately, and also down the road we believe these players check that box. We are eager to see what they bring to the pitch both this year and in years to come.”

Inaugural head coach, Laura Harvey, recently informed the club that she will be leaving for a job with the United States National Team. Owner Dell Loy Hansen informed fans that an announcement will be made on February 6 regarding the vacant head coach role.
