SALT LAKE CITY – Football immortality will be on the line for the Philadelphia Eagles and two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Patrick Mahomes looks to lead his Chiefs to a never-seen-before Super Bowl three-peat, while 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley hopes to carry Philadelphia to its second title in the past eight years.
Super Bowl LIX is being played in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. MT.

Barkley became the ninth running back in NFL history to eclipse the 2,000-yard rushing plateau. He finished with 2,005 yards and showed his quick-strike ability with seven TD runs of 60 yards or more. Alongside Barkley is quarterback Jalen Hurts. The duo helped form the second-best backfield in the league. Philadelphia scored 25 rushing touchdowns, also second in the NFL.

The Eagles reached the Super Bowl with wins over Green Bay in the Wild Card, Los Angeles in the Divisional Round, and Washington in the NFL Championship Game. Former Utah wideout/kick returner Britain Covey has a chance to be on the Eagle’s active roster on game day.
Two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes leads an experienced Chiefs offense with the help of a stingy Kansas City defense. Although the offense hasn’t been the high-scoring unit it once was, Mahomes’ ability to make the right play and avoid turnovers has allowed KC to win an NFL-record 17 consecutive one-score games.
Skyy Moore is doubtful for #SBLIX against the Eagles.

Kansas City advanced to its third straight Super Bowl and fifth in the past six years with victories over Houston in the Divisional Round and Buffalo in the AFC Championship Game. Former BYU offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia will suit up for the Chiefs, while former Cougar Andy Reid calls the offense as the Chiefs head coach.
Super Bowl Rematch
These same teams represented their respective conferences in Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, in 2023. Mahomes and Hurts are the primary holdovers from that game, but both teams have extensive playoff and Super Bowl experience.
Hurts threw for 304 yards and a TD while gaining 70 yards and three scores on the ground. Despite Hurts’ spectacular play, Eagles running backs couldn’t hold up their end of the bargain. Three Eagles backs combined for 45 yards on 17 carries.
Will have more on this tomorrow, but Super Bowl 57 was really such an Andy Reid playcalling masterclass

Trailing by six entering the final period, Mahomes led Kansas City on two touchdown drives, throwing scoring passes to Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore to give his team a 35-28 lead. After Philadelphia evened the score on a Hurts rushing TD with 5:15 left, Mahomes orchestrated a 66-yard drive that ate up 5:07 of the clock.
With eight seconds left, Harrison Butker nailed a 27-yard field goal to give the Chiefs their second championship in three seasons.
