Utah Football Players Send Message That They ‘Stand Together’

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team sent a message on social media on Tuesday that they stand together.

The video was posted by Utah football with about 12 players that are currently on the roster.

The message on social media rotated between the players who shared a message to the public.

HUMANITY. KINDNESS. RESPECT. EQUALITY.

The video started with offensive lineman Nick Ford walking up to the microphone and said “my life matters.”

Wide receiver Britain Covey added “my brothers’ lives matter.”

“This is not about left versus right,” defensive back Clark Phillips III stated.

As they rotated through to send the message, the players stated the following:

“This is about what is right. We can no longer just play the game. Because we are more than the game we play. We have a platform. We have a voice. And it’s important that we use it. Humanity. Kindness. Respect. Equality. All in or in the way. Enough is enough. We stand together.”

Near the end of the video, head coach Kyle Whittingham said “Utah football stands with our student-athletes.”

The caption at the end of the video said “end racism.”

Players that joined Ford, Covey and Phillips III included wide receiver Solomon Enis, linebacker Devin Lloyd, running back T.J. Green, safety R.J. Hubert, quarterback Jake Bentley, running back Devin Brumfield, offensive lineman Orlando Umana and defensive end Mika Tafua.
