Former Utah Football Player’s Family Fights For Life After Tragic Car Crash

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah defensive back Jimmy Nolan is going through a tragic loss after his wife along with three of his four children were involved in a car crash in South Carolina.

Thursday morning, Nolan was on the phone with his wife Taran who was driving their car with three of their children (Micki, Daisy and Jimmy) when Nolan heard his wife scream followed by a big collision.

The car caught on fire and they were only able to save Taran, Daisy and Jimmy according to Nolan’s Facebook post. Taran was driving from Georgetown to Charlotte. Nolan was in Southern California with his daughter Paisley.

The crash was a head-on collision. South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Lee reported the crash on U.S. 521 in Georgetown County at around 5 a.m. local time. Lee reported that the driver of the vehicle that collided with Nolan’s family died as well as Nolan’s three-year old daughter.

The driver in the other car that collided with Nolan’s family died.

Nolan was a defensive back for the Utes from 1995-99. He is currently the head coach of Costa Mesa High School.

A GoFundMe page was created to help the family. The GoFundMe page was started by Brittany Hinzo, who said the following on the page.

“Our beloved Nolan Family needs our help right now. Thursday morning, Taran and three of their four children Micki, Daisy and Jimmy were in a horrific car accident. Their youngest baby Micki did not survive. Daisy, Jimmy and Taran are in very critical condition in South Carolina. Their dad, Jimmy and older sister Paisley were here in California and have flown out to be with them. They are the most incredible family with the biggest hearts you could ever imagine.

“There are no words for this immeasurable loss. We are praying and asking for hope and help. We want to take all or any financial  burden out of the question. Whatever you can give to support this family will help. Every dollar will go to supply to their needs in this season, medically, at home, etc.  Please also continue to pray and ask God to supply every single one of their needs right now.”

On Friday, Hinzo wrote an update on the condition of Nolan’s wife and three children that are in the hospital in critical condition with burns. That is on the GoFundMe page where donations are being made. The GoFundMe page can be found, here.
