Report: Pac-12 Commissioner, Conference Staffers, Network Employees To Take Salary Reductions

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Pac-12 Conference will be reducing salaries of Commissioner Larry Scott, conference staffers and Pac-12 Network employees.

According to Pac-12 Insider John Canzano of the Oregonian, Commissioner Scott will be taking a 12 percent reduction from his $5.3 million salary.

Canzano obtained an email that was sent out to the conference employees.

“Our CEO Group approved our conference budget for this coming year, which includes a 9 percent overall decrease in expenses along with salary reductions for employees making over $100,000 in annual salary,” the email read.

Also, employees making six figures received pay reductions that range from 5-10 percent.

The salary reductions are effective immediately and will remain in place for the next 12 months.

According to Canzano, this has sparked internal conversations over the Fourth of July weekend about whether the Pac-12 CEO Group which is the conference’s chancellors and presidents might make a move on Scott. His contract expires in the summer of 2022 and the media rights contract is up in 2024.

Scott is currently the highest paid conference commissioner in the country.
