Utah State Overcomes Double-Digit Deficit To Beat Fresno State

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah State men’s basketball team overcame an early double-digit deficit with a comeback in the second half over the Fresno State Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs hosted the Aggies on Saturday, March 7.

After trailing by double-digits in the first half, USU stormed back late in the second half to beat Fresno State, 57-51.

Following the first 20 minutes of game time, the Aggies trailed by 10 points. Utah State scored only 16 points in the first half. That was the Aggies’ lowest total in the first half this season by six points.

In the final 94 seconds of the second half, USU buried a couple of three-pointers to take the lead for good. Four shots at the foul line put the game away for the Aggies.

Utah State finished the game shooting 40.4 percent overall and 40.0 percent from three.

Neemias Queta and Justin Bean led the Aggies with 13 points apiece. Both players recorded double-doubles in the win.

The Aggies held the Bulldogs to 34.6 percent from the field and 31.8 percent on triples.

Isaiah Hill led Fresno State with 16 points.

With the win, the Aggies improved to a record of 18-7 overall and 15-4 in Mountain West Conference games.

Utah State’s next game will take place in the Mountain West tourney. Saturday’s win clinched the No. 2 seed for the Aggies.
