PROVO, Utah – The BYU athletics staff, under the leadership of athletic director Brian Santiago, is taking shape.
On Monday night, BYU announced what they labeled “enhancements” to its Senior Leadership Team. Among the notable additions are former BYU basketball star and NBA player Travis Hansen, joining the athletic department as a senior associate athletic director.
Hansen’s role will consist of overseeing revenue share and NIL operations for BYU’s athletic department.
Travis Hansen hired as BYU senior associate athletic director
Earlier this year, Hansen shared a post on X thanking BYU fans, donors, and partners for “enabling BYU to compete with the best teams in the country.”
I am grateful to all of our donors, partners, and fan base for enabling BYU to compete with the best teams in the country, including Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas. They have allowed us to secure a spot at the table for the most talented athletes in the world.

Hansen continued, “BYU’s focus is on transformational experiences, not transactional ones. We help players find identity beyond the jersey—and purpose beyond the paycheck.”
Along with officially hiring Hansen into the athletics department, BYU also announced that football coach Kalani Sitake and women’s cross country coach Diljeet Taylor will join the leadership team as senior associate athletic directors to assist BYU’s athletic department with strategy and impact. Coaching will remain their primary responsibilities.
“In an ever-changing landscape of college athletics, it is imperative we have excellent, sound leadership, especially in the revenue share/NIL space,” BYU athletics director Brian Santiago said. “Our mission is to develop young women and men of character and faith in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence, and prepare them for life after sport. Travis deeply embraces that mission and brings experience as a professional athlete, business executive and mentor who understands the shifting landscape of college athletics. Adding Diljeet and Kalani to our leadership team provides world-class coaching voices in our most important department collaborations and also expands their impact and influence to all 600+ of our student-athletes at BYU.”

Other senior leadership announcements in the BYU Athletics department include:
- Dallan Moody will be elevated to Deputy Athletic Director and will continue to oversee all BYU Athletics revenue and finance.
Moody played a key role in football scheduling when BYU was an FBS Independent.
- Chad Lewis and Casey Stauffer are being elevated to senior associate athletic director roles.
The announcement from BYU noted that Lewis, a former BYU football star, will continue to oversee development initiatives. Stauffer will oversee corporate sponsorship operations. BYU said development initiatives and corporate sponsorship operations will be “key revenue-generation drivers.”
- Liz Darger will continue as senior woman administrator (SWA)
Darger, who was recently appointed as NCAA Women’s Basketball Chairman for the 2026-27 season, has been at BYU since 2015.
