Hornets Make Just Two Three-Pointers, Jazz Win In Blowout

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz crushed the hapless Charlotte Hornets 120-100, snapping their two-game winning streak.

The Hornets shot just 2-16 from three, the fewest makes by a Jazz opponent since April of 2021.

Lauri Markknanen led the Jazz with 25 points while the Hornets were led by Terry Rozier’s 23.

First Quarter

Neither team performed particularly well in the first quarter as the Jazz hot just attempted eight two-point field goals, making only three, compared to 15 threes, making only five.

The Hornets had the opposite issue, shooting 0-3 from the three-point line, and missing the only two free throw attempts of the game.

Mark Williams and Terry Rozier led the Hornets with eight points each, while the Jazz were led by Ochai Agbaji with 6.

After one the Jazz trailed the Hornets 24-21.

Second Quarter

The Jazz found their rhythm in the second half by going with a smaller lineup and attacking the Hornets on offense.

After failing to get to the free throw line in the first quarter, the Jazz shot 14-15 in the second and knocked down 6-14 from three.

The Hornets failed to connect on a three-pointer in the first half, missing all seven attempts and shooting just 5-10 from the free-throw line.

At the half, the Jazz led Charlotte 58-45.

Third Quarter

The Hornets opened the second half on an 8-0 run, trimming the Jazz lead to five with 10:30 left in the third quarter.

However, that’s the closest the Hornets would trim the deficit as the Jazz pushed their back to double-digits in the ensuing minutes.

Ochai Agbaji took a hard fall after a baseline dunk attempt and left the game to head to the locker room, but was later cleared to return to the floor.

The Jazz lead ballooned to as large as 15, but the Hornets closed the quarter on a 5-0 run over the final 1:34.

After three the Jazz led the Hornets 89-79.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz quickly stemmed the Hornets’ momentum ballooning their lead up to 19, 100-81 with 8:50 left in the fourth.

The Hornets failed to make a three-point attempt in each of the first, second, and fourth quarters, connecting on just 2-16 for the game.

Markkanen led the Jazz with 25 points.

The Utah Jazz beat the Charlotte Hornets 120-102.
