NEW ORLEANS, La. – In a tightly contested game, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert stopped the New Orleans Pelicans’ attempt to send the game into overtime with a fantastic stop on defense, helping the Jazz to a 128-126 victory.

The Jazz held a two point lead in the final moments when Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram attacked the basket to try and tie the game, but Gobert stopped him. The officials did not call a foul but gathered at the table and ultimately decided that it was not a foul and the game was over.

When the Jazz players realized that a foul wasn’t called, they ran into the locker room holding up two fingers as a sign for Gobert’s back-to-back NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Bojan Bogdanovic finished with a season-high 35 points on 11-21 shooting from the floor, 3-9 from the three-point line and a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. He scored 23 points in the second half and 13 in the third quarter. It was his seventh 30-point performance of the season.

Joe Ingles added 22 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists, while shooting 8-12 from the floor and 4-5 from beyond the arc. Donovan Mitchell chipped in 19 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Jordan Clarkson contributed 16 points off the bench, including four 3-pointers in the first half.

Gobert recorded 9 points and 19 rebounds, shooting 4-10 from the field.

It was the first time that the Jazz saw their former teammate Derrick Favors in the regular season in a Pelicans uniform. Favors had 9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks.

The Pelicans were led by Ingram with 35 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. J.J. Redick added 23 points, while Lonzo Ball chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

Utah shot 51 percent from the field, 16-33 from downtown for 48 percent and 20-24 from the free throw line. New Orleans shot 48 percent from the floor, 38 percent from beyond the arc and 24-30 from the charity stripe.

The Jazz improved their record to 24-12 on the season. They have won six straight games and 11 of their last 12. Utah will return home for two straight games beginning with the New York Knicks on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on AT&T SportsNet.
