SALT LAKE CITY – The future of the Utah Jazz and head coach Quin Snyder is reportedly still unclear with a chance of both parties ending the eight-year stint.

Late Tuesday night, ESPN NBA Insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon reported that Quin Snyder could end his eight-year tenure with the Utah Jazz and move on as he and owner Ryan Smith and CEO of basketball operations Danny Ainge continue to discuss the future.

Wojnarowski and MacMahon reported that the Jazz have offered to extend Snyder’s current contract, which has two years remaining, including an option for Snyder for the 2023-24 season. The Jazz will also welcome Snyder to return to the franchise this upcoming season on his current contract.

Reports indicate that there is no timetable on reaching a decision, while talks are expected to continue. Talks have been described as “good faith” attempts at a resolution to keep Snyder.

It’s been reported previously that Snyder was not interested in other head coaching vacancies around the NBA, including the Los Angeles Lakers job. Wojnarowski and MacMahon are reporting that if Snyder were to sit out this season as a head coach, which would end his eight-year tenure with the Jazz, he would be one of the most sought-after coaching candidates in 2023.

The Jazz head coach underwent hip surgery after the Jazz were eliminated in six games by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. In eight seasons with the franchise, Snyder has a record of 372-264 record. He is tied for the third-longest tenure with a team among active head coaches in the NBA. Only Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has been with their franchises longer than Snyder.

Snyder is tied with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr for third-longest tenure.

Jake Scott and Ben Anderson discussed this report on the “Jake and Ben” show on The Zone Sports Network.
