SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have signed high-flying forward Xavier Sneed to a two-way contract the team announced Wednesday before the All-Star break.

Sneed attended college at Kansas State and went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft before playing for the Greensboro Swarm and the Niagra River Lions in the G League last season.

The newest Jazzman spent four years at Kansas State, including his final season where he 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.7 assists in 32.5 minutes per game earning All-Big 12 honors.

Sneed has appeared in two NBA cames during his career after signing a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in late December.

The forward grabbed two rebounds in his two appearances but has yet to score at the NBA level.

The Jazz had an open two-way roster spot after waiving forward Malik Fitts who suffered a wrist injury that required surgery in January.

This season Sneed has averaged 16.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 48 percent from the floor, and 41 percent from the three-point line on 6.0 attempts per game in the G League.

Trent Forrest currently holds the Jazz’s other two-way roster spot but has appeared in 45 games this season, including making four starts.

Forrest has been a mainstay in the Jazz rotation since Christmas averaging 18.3 minutes per game in 21 appearances.

Sneed is originally from Missouri and stands 6-foot-5 while weighing 215 lbs.

In order for either Forrest or Sneed to be eligible for the postseason, the Jazz would have to convert their two-way contracts to traditional NBA deals before the playoffs begin.

With Forrest’s improvement this season, he’s a strong candidate to see his deal converted before the end of the regular season.

The Jazz currently sit in the fourth seed in the West behind the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and last year’s first-round playoff opponent, the Memphis Grizzlies.
