SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz added forwards Marques Bolden and Malik Fitts to their roster, bringing the total to the maximum number of 20 players during the preseason.

Bolden joins the Jazz with averages of 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in seven career appearances for the Cleveland Cavaliers over the last two season, while Fitts averaged 1.0 points and 1.0 rebounds in three games last season for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Jazz got training camp underway on Tuesday shortly before announcing the roster additions.

Bolden attended Duke University where he averaged 5.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in during his final season with the Blue Devils.

Fitts attended St. Mary’s where he averaged 15.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 68 appearances.

Teams have to trim their rosters from 20, including their two two-way roster spots to 15, plus the two-way contracts before opening night.

The Jazz currently have 14 players on guaranteed contracts entering the season, and both two-way spots occupied, leaving one open roster spot heading into the October 20 opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Teams can however sign players to Exhibit 10 contracts that can be waived during training camp but allow the franchise to maintain control of the player’s rights by assigning them to their G League affiliate.

The Jazz already have rookies MaCio Teague and Derrick Alston Jr. signed to Exhibit 10 contracts, both of whom could be optioned to the Salt Lake City Stars if neither player earns the final guaranteed spot on the roster.

Teams are required to carry between 13-15 players on guaranteed contracts to open the season, which would allow the Jazz to leave an open roster spot heading into the season opener.
