SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Though a sprained ankle may have slowed Donovan Mitchell on the practice courts this summer, his charitable work off the floor hasn’t stopped.

Working with Adidas with the launch of his new sneaker, the D.O.N. Issue #3, the Utah Jazz guard donated basketball courts to The Children’s Village Community Center in New York where his late grandmother worked.

According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Mitchell worked with his mom and sister to donate the courts.

Two of the three brightly colored courts resemble different colorways of Mitchell’s custom sneakers, while another court features a map of the globe.

The Children’s Village Community Center began in the mid-nineteenth century and has expanded to several campuses. The program aims to partner with families with vulnerable children to become “educationally proficient, economically productive, and socially responsible members of their communities.”

“Love being able to do things like this!!” Mitchell responded in a tweet. “Go get the DON 3’s out now!!!!”

Mitchell Has Long List Of Charitable Work

The new courts as The Children’s Village Community Center are only the latest examples of Mitchell’s long-standing charitable work.

The All-Star was a finalist for the NBA’s Community Assist Award for his numerous donations throughout the season, most notably his $12 million donation to the Greenwich Country Day School in Connecticut which he attended from third to ninth grade.

Mitchell qualified for the year-end Community Assist Award nomination after earning the honor for the 2020 NBA offseason.

The young superstar has also donated meals to the Granite School District to ensure students could continue to get healthy lunches during the COVID-19 pandemic, donated $90,000 to set up an education fund for the children of Jacob Blake, gave $200,000 to his alma mater Louisville, and gave D.O.N. Issue #2s to the Kennesaw State men’s basketball team.
