SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz forward Joe Ingles suffered a knee injury during the first half of Utah’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves hosted the Jazz at Target Center on Sunday, January 30.

With 5:52 left in the second quarter, Ingles drove to the basket before falling to the ground after he appeared to injure his left knee.

It was a non-contact injury.

Ingles was helped off the court by his teammates. He was unable to put weight on his leg.

At halftime, the Jazz announced that Ingles would not return against Minnesota and would have an MRI in Salt Lake City on Monday, January 31.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that “there’s fear” that Ingles “suffered a significant left knee injury.”

Before leaving the game, the veteran forward had three rebounds and three assists in 12 minutes on the hardwood.

This season, Ingles is averaging 7.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

Utah ended up suffering a 126-106 loss to Minnesota.

During his postgame interview, Jazz acting head coach Alex Jensen commented on Ingles’ injury and the effect it had on the rest of the team.

“Losing Joe, obviously, I think has an effect on our guys,” Jensen said. “It’s not easy to lose a guy like Joe.”

Jazz guard Mike Conley said that the team had the chance to see Ingles at halftime.

“Tears in his eyes,” Conley said. “Just knowing how much this means for him, this game means to them and what we mean to him, you know, so it’s tough.
