SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz defeated the Orlando Magic behind a record-breaking performance from beyond the three-point arc.

The Jazz hosted the Magic at Vivint Arena on Saturday, April 3.

Orlando started the game with a depleted roster of eight players due to an illness sweeping its locker room. By the end of the night, the Magic were down to seven players after Mo Bamba felt ill.

Utah connected on 18 of its 26 total three-pointers during the first half and cruised to a 137-91 victory.

Barrage of Triples

The Jazz broke the game open early and didn’t take their foot off the pedal until the third quarter.

Utah began the contest by outscoring the Orlando 38-20 in the first quarter.

By halftime, the Jazz had connected on 18 three-pointers, a new NBA record for threes in any half.

Things continued in the opening minutes of the third quarter before Quin Snyder inserted players outside of Utah’s main rotation.

Only one Jazz player played more than 25 minutes in the blowout. Each Jazz starter played between 20-24 minutes.

Donovan Mitchell

Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell led with a game-high 22 points on an efficient 8-11 shooting.

Mitchell was 6-7 on three-point attempts.

He added two rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 21 minutes.

Utah Jazz

For the game, the Jazz shot 55.4 percent overall and 47.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Ingles each scored 17 points.

Ingles started in place of Mike Conley, who was out due to rest.

Jordan Clarkson poured in 15 points to lead Utah’s bench.

Orlando Magic

The Jazz suffocated the Magic, who ended up shooting 36.8 percent from the field and only 2-23 or 8.7 percent from downtown.

Orlando was led by Wendell Carter Jr.’s 19 points.

Up Next

With the win, the Jazz improved to 38-11 this season, including 22-2 at home.

Utah’s next game is against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, April 5 at 5 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on AT&T SportsNet and 97.5 FM.
