SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz will put their eight-game road winning streak on the line Monday night when they travel to face the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Jazz haven’t lost on the road since a 107-100 collapse in Orlando on the second night of a back-to-back set while playing without starting point guard Mike Conley.

The Pelicans meanwhile are opening up a three-game homestand against the best teams in the West beginning with the Jazz before hosting the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors.

Jazz Are Elite Road Team

The Jazz own the NBA’s second-best road record at 12-3, trailing only the Brooklyn Nets who are 13-3 away from home to open the season.

The team does own the NBA’s best net rating away from home outscoring opponents by an average of 11.6 points per 100 possessions, more than five points better than the league-leading Nets.

That’s due to the fact that the Jazz maintain the league’s best offensive rating when playing away from Salt Lake City, but see their defensive rating climb from 17th best in the NBA at home to second-best on the road.

Overall the Jazz have won 14 of their last 17 games heading into their five-game road swing that will see them play in New Orleans, Denver, Toronto, Indiana, and Detroit before returning to Utah on January 12 to face the Cleveland Cavaliers.

New Orleans Playing Their Best Basketball

Though the Pelicans sit 10 games below .500 and have the second-worst record in the NBA, they are in the midst of their best basketball of the season.

After starting their season 8-21, New Orleans has won five of their last seven games including a four-game win streak before losing two of their last three contests.

The Pelicans will be getting some bodies back in their rotation to help continue their positive momentum as center Jonas Valanciunas was activated off the NBA’s COVID list early Monday morning.

Brandon Ingram is questionable for Monday’s game against the Jazz as he continues to recover from left Achilles soreness that has seen him miss New Orleans last two games.

Broadcast

The Jazz and New Orleans will tip-off at 6 pm MT and can be heard on The Zone Sports Network. The game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet and FuboTV.
