Ekpe Udoh Spends Time At New York Publishing House

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Ekpe Udoh, who spent the last two seasons with the Utah Jazz, had a job-shadow opportunity with major publisher, Penguin Books, as part of a Career Crossover with the NBA.

Udoh’s love of books and reading has been well documented, especially during this time in Utah. While a member of the Jazz, he held monthly book club meetings, called “Ekpe’s Book Club,” where fans and fellow readers could join him in a conversation about a particular book.

Ekpe’s Book Club, which met at the Jazz’s practice facility was a huge hit. Former First Lady Michelle Obama gave a shoutout to Udoh and his club for reading her memoir and Ekpe’s Book Club t-shirts, with Udoh’s face emblazoned across the front, were popular among his teammates.

The NBA Career Crossover gives the league’s players opportunities to pursue a life outside of basketball once their career ends. While Udoh hasn’t formally announced his retirement yet, his internship of sorts with a major book publisher seems like a great fit for his future plans.

Udoh is not currently under contract with the Jazz. While he may receive some interest in free agency, Udoh has also stated that he is entertaining the idea of playing overseas, something that he has already done once in his career.

Over two seasons with the Jazz, Udoh made 114 appearances and averaged 2.5 points per game in 9.9 minutes per contest. He was consistently praised by teammates and coaches for his leadership and defense.
