Donovan Mitchell Scores Five Straight Points For Jazz To Send Game To Overtime

ORLANDO, Fla. – With the odds against the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell was not ready to call it a day against the Denver Nuggets.

Mitchell scored five straight points for the Jazz to send the game to overtime.

Utah was trailing 104-100 with 10 seconds remaining. On the inbounds pass for Denver, Joe Ingles forced Michael Porter Jr. to hit the ball out of bounds. When the Jazz got the ball back, Mitchell drilled a three-pointer with 7.1 seconds left to put Utah within one point, 104-103.

After fouling Jerami Grant, the Nuggets forward made just one of his two free throw attempts to stretch the lead to 105-103. Mitchell brought the ball up the court and split Denver defenders and found himself wide open for a layup to tie the game with 0.9 seconds left.

Denver missed the opportunity to complete the comeback when Jamal Murray missed the game-winning three-pointer.

The Nuggets came back from 18 points down in the first half to take a four-point lead. Mitchell finished regulation with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists.

It’s the first overtime game in the bubble for the Jazz. Rudy Gobert also had 22 points along with 10 rebounds and one block through four quarters.
