Donovan Mitchell Debuts ‘Star Wars Lightsaber’ Shoes Against Kings

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell debuted a new “Star Wars Lightsaber” edition of his signature Adidas shoes on the road against the Sacramento Kings.

Mitchell wore the new colorway on the same day that the shoes were released, Friday, November 1.

The Jazz guard stepped onto the floor at the Golden1 Center wearing the new black and blue version of his D.O.N Issue #1 shoes.

Adidas says that the new shoes are “combine Donovan Mitchell’s style with Star Wars inspiration. The herringbone-pattern rubber outsole provides the traction needed to make quick and decisive cuts in the paint. A propulsion clip on the side gives you lateral support for dynamic moves, while a flexible Bounce midsole offers instant step-in comfort and a cushioned, responsive ride.”

From photos on Adidas’ product page, it appears that the shoes glow in the dark.

The Jazz guard first teased the shoes on his Instagram account on October 18.

The official colors of the new shoes are Core Black, Hi-Res Aqua, and Silver Metallic. The kicks are currently available in youth sizes. It’s unknown if they’ll be released in adult shoe sizes at a later date.

“Star Wars Lightsaber” is the sixth colorways that Adidas has released of Mitchell’s shoes. The first edition to go on a sale was a red/blue Spider-Man version.
