Derrick Favors Nearly Has Double-Double In First Game Against Former Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Former Jazzman and New Orleans Pelicans big man Derrick Favors faced his former team for the first time in the regular season.
In the Pelicans’ 128-126 loss to the Jazz, Favors finished with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks, while shooting 4-7 from the field in 29 minutes on the floor.
It was evident that Favors knew what Rudy Gobert’s tendencies were on the offensive end as the Jazz big man had 9 points on 4-10 shooting from the floor.

Favors missed the first meeting between the two teams back in Salt Lake City in November due to a back injury. In his first season with the Pelicans, Favors is averaging 8.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and one block per game.

He spent eight and a half seasons with the Jazz and averaged 12.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 576 games played with 413 starts. This past off-season, the Jazz traded Favors to the Pelicans for draft picks in order to clear up cap space for Bojan Bogdanovic and Mike Conley.
